-Colors from nature, colors hidden in everyday life-
While reflecting on nature and art, I discovered natural dyeing.
It is a dyeing method using natural dyes to dye cloth with plant leaves, tree roots, vegetable peels, etc. It has been popular around the world for 3,400 years in Japan, 5,000 years in China, and 4,500 years in India.
Even today, anyone can easily dye cloth using vegetable peels, coffee beans after brewing, spices, and flowers that we usually eat,
Through the process of herb dyeing, we had the opportunity to remind ourselves how beautiful, delicate, colorful, and hopeful our daily life and the nature therein can be.
Everyone, children and adults alike, could see the sparkling eyes of the participants as they folded and tied the fabric, imagining the colors and patterns that would appear after the fabric was dyed, and then opened the dyed fabric.
I am working on such a project to convey the nature and daily life around us through the experience of the workshop.
〜日常に潜む自然と色〜
草木染めは世界で親しまれており、日本では3400年前、中国では5000年前、インドでは4500年前から親しまれている、植物の葉や木の根、野菜の皮などで布を染める天然染料を用いた染色方法です。現代でも私たちが普段口にしている野菜の皮や淹れた後のコーヒー豆、香辛料、草花などを使って誰でも簡単に布を染めることができ、草木染めのプロセスを通して、日常とそこにある自然がいかに彩を持ち、繊細でいて強く、暖かく、希望に満ちたものであるかを体験しました。染めた後の色や模様を想像しながら布を絞ったり折ったりして、染め上がった布を広げた時のキラキラした瞳は子供も大人もみんな一緒です、ワークショップの体感を通して身近な自然や日常を伝えていく、そんなくプロジェクトに取り組んでいます。
