Yurika Saito Living Dyeing (Natural Dyeing)

After studying basic design in Tokyo, Japan, Yurika explored nature and culture across Japan and around the world. Since 2022, she has been practicing natural dyeing in Berlin using waste materials—such as spent tea leaves and onion skins from a restaurant—through her “Living Dyeing Project,” and offering hands-on workshop experiences.

Keiko was inspired by her mother’s handicrafts from a young age. She has lived in Germany since 2007, where she studied at Kunsthochschule, then she mastered indigo dyeing and textiles. Since 2023, she has been creating and teaching Sashiko, sharing this traditional Japanese technique in contemporary ways through workshops both in Germany and internationally.
